It was a special day here at Måsek's yesterday. Radio Dalarna came to us to talk about the changing weather, the dogs, and how they coped with the intense heat we've had. It's always a bit of an honor when someone wants to hear your experiences live on air — but above all, it was a warm, fun, and genuine day together.
Cooler weather and livelier dogs
We started by talking about how the weather has finally turned, and how much easier it is for the dogs now that the temperature has dropped. Polar dogs are amazing in many ways, but heat is always a challenge. The reporter wanted to know how we work with it, how we adapt training, and what dog owners should keep in mind when it's hot.
Getting to sit there and give little tips live on air — about shade, water, breaks, and how to train smartly when it's hot — felt both fun and meaningful.
Mys stole the show
I had MYS with me in the dog enclosure, and she was... well, Mys. Calm, secure, stable — almost a little high on hormones right now, in that soft way that female dogs can be when they have puppies. The reporter commented several times on how incredibly calm she was. It's nice when someone from outside sees what you see every day.
She also got to peek at the puppies for a while. The little ones were sleeping, crawling a bit, and Mys kept an eye on them with that quiet, self-evident security that only an experienced mother has.
The view that took her breath away
We finished up at the viewpoint where we always have coffee with our guests. It's a place that means a lot to us — and always impresses people who come here for the first time.
The reporter stood silently for a moment, looked out over the forest and said: “I can see all the way to Falun.” It was such a beautiful moment and perhaps the most beautiful summer day this year.
A day to remember
Getting to talk about the dogs, nature, the heat, the puppies, and all the things that are our everyday life — live on air — felt both honorable and very fun. It was a day filled with laughter, calm dogs, good conversations, and a reporter who really took the time to see everything.
