When summer comes to Dalarna, the rhythm here at the kennel changes. The warmth lies like a soft blanket over the forest, the birds are louder, and the dogs… well, they enter their very own summer pace.
One might think that huskies seek the shade when the sun is at its highest. But it is not entirely uncommon for them to lie directly in the sun, stretch out and enjoy it as if the warmth were made for them. Husky-Hiking
It's easy to think they get too hot – but their fur acts like a thermos. It retains heat in winter, but it also keeps the heat out in summer. Beneath the guard hairs, there's an air layer that insulates in both directions. This allows them to rest safely in the sun without overheating.
So here they lie, spread out in the dog runs, eyes closed against the light, letting the day pass at its own pace. It's their way of recharging.
🐾 But as soon as they realize we're having guests…
It's like someone pushes a button.
Ears perk up. Tails start wagging. They rise, stretch, and look towards the gate with that curious, expectant gaze.
They know.
They recognize sounds, movements, routines — and they love it. Because even though they enjoy sunbathing and resting when the heat is strongest, they are always eager for adventures in the forest. It's their favorite thing.
To meet new people. To lead the way. To work together, side by side, in nature.
It's as if the whole pack comes to life in a second.
🌲 Summer tours – calm, green, and full of energy
Summer is a special time here. The forest is softer, the scents stronger, and the dogs more social than ever. They are affectionate, curious, and eager to greet, sniff, and show who they are.
And once we hit the trail, everything falls into place. The dogs work at their calm, rhythmic pace. Guests settle into the silence. And the forest offers its most beautiful summer version.
