When the heat comes so suddenly like this, the snakes wake up and, of course, seek out sunny, warm places. They are a bit lethargic after waking up, which means they might be out and about a bit more than in the summer.
Yesterday, we had to run out to the dog facility four times to remove snakes. Three adders and one grass snake had slithered in to the dogs. One snake an hour. I thought I was in a horror movie by the end. Everyone knows the consequences an adder bite can have on a dog if things go badly. The dogs were really good, and only the grass snake had been bitten. The adders lay hissing while the dogs curiously bounced around them.
We were lucky yesterday. Today it will be just as warm as yesterday, so we just have to perk up our ears and listen to the dogs because you can tell from their barking that something unusual is going on. Måseks Free has the role of signaler in our pack, and he took great responsibility and roared out loud when there was a snake in the facility. We're keeping our fingers crossed today that no snakes appear.
