Försommaren och dofterna som bara finns nu

Early summer and the scents that are only present now

There's something special about early summer here in Dalarna. That short period when nature truly awakens and everything smells more than the rest of the year. When I go out to the dogs in the morning, the bird cherry hangs like a soft cloud in the air, and every step through the forest brings a new note of summer on its way.

The lily of the valley still hides in the shade, but its scent still finds its way. The plum trees are blooming as if they only have a few days to show all they have. And the wind carries that mixture of damp soil, sun-warmed bark, and something I always associate with the beginning of adventures.

The dogs also notice that something is changing in nature. They lift their noses a little more often, stop and inhale the scents as if they want to sort out everything that is happening in the forest right now. There's no dramatic difference in their behavior – more a quiet curiosity, a calm focus that comes when the world around them awakens.

Early summer is short, but it's full of small moments that linger. And it's right now that the forest is most alive.

If you want to experience this time with our huskies, there are available times in the booking. It's hard to fully describe the feeling – it has to be experienced.
