It's early morning here at Måsek's, and the world feels a little softer than usual. Mys is in the whelping box with her five newborn pups, three males and two females, and the whole room breathes a calm that only newborn puppies can create. It's as if time slows down a little when you sit next to a mother dog who has just given birth.
Mys has been an incredibly good first-time mother, and the inherent security she carries within her has truly reflected the entire process. All five puppies arrived about twenty minutes apart during the evening of July 4th — the same date that the USA celebrated its 250th anniversary, the day the country once declared its independence. There was one all-white male, two wild-colored males, and two wild-colored females. A balanced and harmonious litter where each little puppy arrived with the same calm that Mys herself radiated.
It's quite special how certain dates stick in your memory. On December 6, 2017, we had a litter of puppies on Finland's 100th anniversary, when Finland celebrated its own independence. That litter has followed us through the years and become something truly extraordinary. The puppies we kept — Sisu and Zac — won World Championship gold already in their third competition. Such moments make you remember both the day, the litter, and the feeling surrounding it.
Since Mys lives indoors with the puppies for the first few weeks, the only contact with the pack is when she goes out for potty breaks. And it's fascinating to see how the pack reacts. When Mys steps out into the dog run, everyone comes forward and sniffs, eager to take in her new scents. You can immediately see that her status has increased — she straightens up, moves with a new self-assurance through the dog run aisle, and the other dogs greet her with respect and curiosity.

But Mys doesn't have the patience to stay out long. As soon as she's done, she wants to quickly go back in to her puppies. She is incredibly attentive to her little ones, meticulously cleaning them and keeping them close. It's so clear that she is already a secure, stable mother who knows exactly what her puppies need.
Right now, Mys and the puppies are living indoors with us, and they will do so for the first few weeks to ensure peace and security. Therefore, visitors will not be able to see the puppies during this period. When the puppies later move out to the pack, we are also very restrictive about allowing guests to pet or cuddle with them. Small puppies need a lot of rest, and we are careful to ensure their first time is as harmonious as possible.
It's a special time here with us — a time of calm, care, and new beginnings. And today we welcome five new lives that have already captured our hearts.
