Yesterday we had one of those evenings that reminds us why we love doing Husky Hiking. A fantastic couple who live in a nearby city, but with their roots in both Ireland and Austria. It was a meeting that lingered long after the sun had set. There's something special when people from different backgrounds meet in the forest — and when the dogs get to show what they can do.
The conversations that carried the evening
Right from the start, we noticed that this would be an extraordinary evening. We talked about their home countries, about culture, about nature — and above all about their national sports. We learned about Irish sports tradition, about the names of different flowers along the path in Austria.
There was laughter, curiosity, and lots of chatter about this and that.
The dogs that worked like a dream
The dogs were in their element. Focused, happy, and with an energy that only comes when everything aligns.
They led us forward at a fast pace, almost as if they knew the evening was special. It went in record time — not because we were in a hurry, but because the dogs had such incredible enthusiasm for their work.
And that's precisely why we had extra long time to enjoy the view, the weather, and the fika when we reached the summit.
A magical evening at the top
The weather was perfect. The light soft. The forest still.
We sat for a long time talking, drinking coffee, and letting the evening settle in. There's something about June that makes time go slower — and when you share it with people who truly appreciate nature, everything becomes even a little more beautiful.
Evening feeding – and a surprise
When we returned to the kennel, our guests got to participate in the evening feeding. It's always a cherished moment to help feed the dogs.
And because I felt that this couple had just the right energy, they also got to try out our dogscooters. It was absolutely the right choice. The dogscooter adventure will suit them perfectly.
An evening to remember
When we said goodbye, it was with the feeling that we had shared more than just an activity. We had shared stories, laughter, culture — and a piece of our everyday life here in Dalarna.
The dogs did their work with heart. The guests gave us just as much back. And the evening became one of those you remember for a long time.
