In September, we will be opening up for the Dogscooter adventure again. This is a high-octane and unique adventure where you get to drive one of our racing dogs – dogs that are trained, focused, and love to work. It’s an experience that’s hard to put into words, and perhaps that’s what makes it so special.
We haven't had many bookings for the Dogscooter adventure, and I think it's due to one thing: this adventure must be experienced. Because how do you truly describe that feeling seen on the faces of our guests as they whiz downhill at full speed, with a rapidly galloping Siberian husky in front of them? Adrenaline surges, tension releases, and happiness is complete.
We usually ask our guests by the campfire if they can describe what they've just experienced. The answer is almost always the same:
"No… I need to go home and process it all first. It was absolutely amazing."
And perhaps that's the difficulty with Dogscooter. It’s an adventure that doesn't quite allow itself to be captured in text; it has to be felt.
Here's how the Dogscooter adventure works
You arrive at Måsek’s, and we start by introducing the dogs. Sometimes you get to choose your dog for the day, depending on who suits you best. Then we do a practice run with the dogscooter to ensure you are comfortable with the vehicle before we hitch a dog in front.
When everything feels good, we load the dogs and head to an area perfect for Dogscooter. There, you'll receive more instructions, and we'll equip you with a helmet, goggles, and gloves. Then, we harness the racing dogs. And that's when it happens.
As the line tightens and the dog speeds up the hill, you begin to get to know each other. You learn how the vehicle reacts, and the dog learns how you work behind them. Slowly but surely, you become a well-coordinated team.
Once we reach the top, we turn around and head downhill. If you wish, you can pick up speed and drive at racing pace. It's a feeling unlike any other – speed, focus, and nature in perfect combination.
Back at the kennel, we take care of the dogs together. Afterward, we have a fika (coffee break), either at the lookout point or in the fire hut if the weather is a bit chilly. It's a lovely conclusion where everything can settle in.
An adventure that stays with you long after
Dogscooter is hard to describe. It's fast, yet safe. It's an adrenaline rush, but also teamwork. It's nature, dogs, and an experience that lingers long after the scooter has stopped.
