Därför älskar utländska gäster våra sommarupplevelser med huskies – och varför Husky Hiking ibland slår vinterhundspann

That's why foreign guests love our summer husky experiences – and why Husky Hiking sometimes beats winter dog sledding

Yesterday, we had a group of foreign guests who shared a story with us that we want to pass on. They came here with a clear dream: to go dog sledding. It had been on their bucket list for a long time. But since they can only take time off during the summer and are unable to travel during the winter months, dog sledding was impossible for them.

Instead, they booked Husky Hiking – and their reactions became some of the most wonderful things we've heard.

“This was more than we expected”

Those were their own words.

They explained that they thought Husky Hiking would be a "summer alternative" to dog sledding. But when they walked with our working Nordic dogs, felt the energy in the leash, saw the dogs' focus, and made that direct connection — they said the experience was more powerful than they had imagined.

One of them put it this way:

“We came here to experience something similar to dog sledding. But this… this was perhaps even better.”

The silence and proximity to nature

What struck them most was the silence. Walking in the forest without human or traffic noise was something they had never experienced before. They said it felt like nature "opened up" when the dogs were working in front of them.

The Right of Public Access (Allemansrätten) – completely unknown to many

They were fascinated that we could move freely in the forest. In their home countries, nature is often restricted, private, or full of people. Here, they experienced something that felt both free and safe.

The dogs’ contact with wildlife

During the tour, they noticed how the dogs suddenly became focused. They immediately asked, “What's happening now?”

We explained that the dogs sensed wildlife nearby — something that impressed them enormously. It became a nature experience that cannot be artificially created.

Walking with real working Nordic dogs

They were also surprised that our dogs are not "ordinary huskies," but:

To walk with a dog that had actually competed at a high level was something they never thought they would experience.

An experience that became more than a substitute

What started as a "summer alternative" instead of dog sledding turned into something completely different. They said that the contact with the dogs, the energy in the leash, and the proximity to nature gave them exactly the feeling they were looking for — and perhaps even more.

We wanted to convey this because it says something important:

Summer Husky Hiking is not just an alternative to winter dog sledding. It is a unique, powerful, and unforgettable experience in itself.
